About Me

My name is Shamim and I am a certified yoga trainer/coach. I recently completed my certification through Bodhi School of Yoga but have been exploring and practicing yoga in many forms for 15+ years. I was an avid runner for years until I developed some health challenges with my feet and with my lungs and it became difficult for me to run with ease. I decided to embrace yoga as a consistent practice to improve my overall health.

My favorite yoga practice includes the incorporation of High Intensity Interval Training, Pilates, and strengthening with weights. I am able to move with more ease and flexibility and continue to use breathwork to improve my lung capacity and strength so that I can run longer distances with ease.

Through U YOGA n Mim, I want to help others find a consistent practice that will provide numerous benefits throughout their life.

My classes vary and are different each time. Each class begins with a warm-up, variations of the sun-salutations, breathing exercises, HIIT, and incorporation hand weights. YOGA is simple and does not require much equipment.

By profession, I am a Professor of Education and absolutely serving students and my community in this role! YOGA has given me the opportunity to explore ways to bring YOGA into schools as a restorative practice. Social and Emotional Learning is critical to the overall wellness of the “whole” child. YOGA is a practice that can be used to help students cope and deal with life’s challenges, anxiety, stress, and interrupted sleep. It is an alternative to disciplinary practices that punish rather than heal.

I have a lot of interests and enjoy learning new things. In my free time time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also like to be outdoors and have fun gardening.

TUESDAY AND THURSDAY: 8am-9am

Per 1hr session: $15

Per 30min session: $8

Yoga Solo (private session): $20

Yoga Monthly 1hr: ($120)

Large Group, School Groups and Professional Development Workshops: $150-$300/hour

Breathercize Workshops: ($25/pp), large groups: Ask me

Currently I am coaching YOGA classes online, however, I am open to in person sessions as well.
